With the cancelled Festival of Lessons and Carols at Manchester Cathedral and Manchester's heaviest snowfall in decades, it was only a matter of time before the Bishop of Manchester found himself the victim of the weather conditions. Read more here.
The weather conditions have now been classified as a critical incident by Greater Manchester police. Trains have been cancelled and no busses are running in Greater Manchester, some town centres and many schools have also been closed.
Church House will be closed all day on 6th January and all planned meetings at the venue are cancelled. Staff and clergy based at Church House will be working by using their mobiles and email via remote access (where applicable). The contact details/email addresses of officers and clergy can be found in the Diocesan year book or on this site listed under department/parish or by using the google search box. Business should be conducted by email and phone until it is safe for people to travel to their place of work.
There will be a further update at close of play on 6th January regarding the re-opening of Church House on 7th. Please check the website regularly.
In an emergency please contact David Marshall, Director of Communications on 07836 22 44 44.
